Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance

Recently, I supported the Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance (SIAA) to develop their website. As well as redesigning the site, I provided a 'content management system' (CMS) called Joomla!, which allows the site to be updated easily. I provided some training in the use of the CMS, in order that the organisation's staff can update the site as required. The site includes an event manager, which allows online booking, a forum and a directory. All of these components have been adpated to the needs of the SIAA.

I've also helped the SIAA to develop their office IT systems by providing a Linux-based server. This provides a central point for file storage, and incorporates a system of regular backups. There's plenty of scope to extend, should their needs require it.

Christine Lang, Information Officer at the SIAA said:

"Chris has provided responsive, helpful advice to the SIAA. He has helped my colleagues and me to set up new webpages and explained, in plain English, what we need to do and how to upload pages and documents.  He has recently set up a server for the office and supported us with the inevitable teething problems which cropped up."
